This year, I had figured that maybe it was time to update our heating/air system after 25 years. I went out to bid, and all who came out to bid on the project kept telling me about how great my system was - albeit old. They kept pointing out the quality of material and workmanship that was put into the original - evident still after 25 years.

Troy came out and we laughed over old times and again he made his suggestions as he had done before installing the old one. Quality and skill is his trademark - 25 years ago and still is today. He and his team came - in 130-degree hot Ojai temperature in the attic - and installed another quality system. This one is 2 zone-excellent upgrade-something that was needed all these years and not available back then. From my research, I had noted the advantages of two speeds on anything that moved - he concurred and urged. They worked at my convenience and on the schedule they had promised.

Pricing was the best (reason for the other quotes - just to reaffirm after 25 years), and they cleaned up and removed all the old equipment as well as any mess they left. Would I recommend them? You bet - and if necessary, I will use them again in 25 more years!!!

Oh, in the last 25 years, in addition to service calls, I spent $0.00 for equipment repair - any question why I stayed with Carrier? We had the Creek Rd fire in 1979 - because of the air-cleaner, no smoke odor in the house, and the new one with the UVA attachment should be even better. When you hire the best, expect the best - and this is what you will get.

Thank you, Joe.

I'm sure Troy will be happy with the glowing praises. Your comments will likely influence our decision to use Troy to replace a similarly old system in a house that we recently bought in Camarillo.

In listing you as a reference, Troy mentioned that we might have crossed paths since you were "involved in therapy for workers after the crash by Mugu." He didn't say which crash (Alaska 261 or the Air show F-4), but I'm suspecting it would have been 261 since he knows I currently fly for Alaska. I did my final four years of active duty flying for the Navy at Mugu, and retired in 2000. I started with Alaska five months after the crash... it is a great company that is working hard to survive after that terrible tragedy. Regardless, thanks for your involvement and your comments re: Troy's work.

Sincerely, JD Dickinson

Well, let's see... First, I must say Troy is honest and he does what he says he will do. This, for me, was great because we have experienced, shall we say, less than straight-forward trade individuals.

The system works great also. With simple upper and lower floor zones we are now able to keep both floors a consistent temperature and with absolute comfort on both floors, even on the hottest days.

The quality of work was very good. They were very professional and did not leave a mess. My only beef (this is not Troy's fault) was the drywall contractor (Troy did recommend him) that we hoped would do some finish and patch work only called once and never returned our call again. I am doing this work myself as a result.

Overall, I would recommend Troy for this type of installation. It has performed as he described it, and we are very happy.

Hi Troy,
Finally trying to get this note off to you. First I want to express my thanks to you for the well done installation of the Carrier Furnace and Air Conditioner in my home. It works fine, and is so quiet that I do not know when it is on. I was sold on Carrier and did not solicit proposals from competitors, I trusted you and my knowledge of the Carrier Organization.

My oldest sister married an Engineer who had worked for Willis Carrier when they were starting out in Newark, N.J. His name was Harry Wilson, who was a graduate from an engineering school in Winnipeg. At the time I was in my first year of high school. Harry spoke a lot to me about the work he had done when he worked there. They were designing air conditioning installations for prestigious buildings such as art museums, theaters. mansions, etc. Every project was carefully, rigorously analyzed and detailed designed. Calculations were made of heat gains and losses, temperature and humidity, air velocity. The air was washed to remove pollen, dust, etc. Humidity and temperature were maintained and controlled year round to protect valuable paintings, antiques, etc. Comfort charts were developed to learn about and to set the parameters for the comfort of occupants.

Harry was a big influence in my life, and that led me to go to engineering school, and I received my degree in Mechanical Engineering from what is now NJIT, the New Jersey Institute Of Technology. I have worked as a Marine Engineer for the US Navy, followed by over 30 years on Nuclear Power Plants and also Solar Energy projects on Federal Buildings. Our chance meeting you can see has caused me to look back and to wonder. Thanks again.

Hi Troy,
I wanted to let you the heater is working perfectly for us. I can't thank you and your whole team enough for all you went through to get this right. It seems to me this unit is even more quiet than the one we had last winter because it does not wake me when it comes on in the early morning.

Since the summer of '08 when you installed the system I have felt like I moved out of a third world country.

Thanks again and remind Colby we have lots of firewood anytime he needs it. Actually, the wood pile grew this year.

Just wanted to let you know how happy we are with the new Heat/Air system your crew installed recently --- especially the air! It's working great this summer, and wow, has our Edison bill gone way down. Thanks again!

Hi Troy:

Just a note to say how much we enjoyed doing business with you. The heating system is great! Please tell Juan and his co-worker that we were more than pleased with their workmanship. They were so efficient and pleasant, so neat and hard-working. It was a pleasure from beginning to end.

Hope your arm is on the mend and feeling much better.

Sincerely,
Sharon and Jack Ellis

This is the first time I have ever wanted to write a letter of appreciation for a job extremely well done. You may use this letter as a recommendation of your outstanding craftsmanship and design skills, as well as product value.

In June of 2004 my wife and I decided to upgrade our air and heating because it was over 25 years old. We interviewed six companies, three of which represented Carrier. It was an experience, and we were lucky enough to get Troy Helton as number six. I say lucky because he was in my opinion the only one who had our best interests at heart. Most were pushing their products and did not listen to what my wife and I were looking for, and could afford. Even the other two Carrier guys could not get their acts together. Troy was the ONLY one who listened to us and gave us three different quotes, with different equipment and budget levels. He also showed us how to save the most money of all of them in rebates, by over sizing the air conditioning coil on top of the furnace blower, and increasing the air flow, we did not need as big an air conditioning pump as everyone else wanted to sell us. It was a great piece of engineering and has made our home air conditioning second to none and it did not cost a million dollars. The total job was for a new furnace, an air conditioner (Puron- not Freon) and all new ducting in the attic. With all of this Mr. Helton was over $800 cheaper than his competition.

Let's not forget the installation. Troy and his crew were on time every morning, and they worked very well together. The crew left everything very clean and orderly at the end of each work day. Troy designed and built a plenum chamber to insure the best air intake from the house to the blower. All of his design work helped to make the system work to its maximum efficiency. Yes, I said design work. Troy did not just install the system and run, he actually put some thought into how the air would flow. After the job was complete, Troy came back to make sure everything was done to our satisfaction.

Troy Helton is a true professional. He listens to his customer's needs and to their budget. He did not push any products or ideas. He offered several options with different service levels and the associated cost differences. Troy showed us how by spending a very little more; we could get so much more in equipment and rebates from Carrier and the utilities.

Well enough said. Thank you Troy Helton for being an honest and hard working man who is looking out for his customer, and not the almighty dollar.

Sincerely,
Chris Ghiatis, Thousand Oaks, CA

p.s. For the record, I really mean every word of what I wrote.

You may be hearing from a friend of mine, Wendy Betton. We told her how happy Shel and I both were with all of you and with our new air conditioner, furnace and tankless water heater. We are having a most comfortable summer.

Wendy's a dear friend and is the Realtor who found this house for us. Take good care of her.

Thanks,
Rocki Mende, Westlake Village

Don't need a special trip or anything, but if you're around, drop off info on fireplaces, books, catalogs, brochures, etc. Thanks. By the way, our electric bill averaged about $200-$250 last few years in the summer months. This year, less than $100! Thanks a second time.
